I seriously doubt it.
While you can turn wood on a metal lathe, the reverse is not usually true.
Metal lathes have calibrated tool movements. Wood lathes have none of that, simply a bare rest on which to brace the cutting tools, which are intended to be hand held.
Your best bet is to keep an eye on eBay and other resellers, looking for a nice used metal lathe

Metal Turning Lathe question by frank: R/C motor for custom steel model tank?
i love remote control vehicles! i have a gas R/C airplane, and a kyosho gas R/C heli. but this time im going with something a little different….. something a little more….. custom. so im buying 3/16 steel and im going to weld it together with the specs of a 1/16 scale German elefant tank. i did the math, and the metal alone should put me at 38 pounds (im trying to lighten her up as much as possible by going with billet aluminum wheels). all of this will be turned on my own lathe and cut with my own grinders. my problem is that my history is with gas engines, and for the controlability i want with the tank i need to go electric.
so with no gear reduction, what kind of power motor would i need to buy? i know that i am going to buy 2 (1 for each side) and i want it to have lots of power at any speed. are there any engines out there (for under each) that have that kind of power? or am i going to have to buy some brass cogs? i prefer brushless but really ill take any motor.

The cheapest source i have found for motors,bec’s,and lipo batterys is here.http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_index.asp You will have to have gear reduction to make it work and a seperate bec for each motor.
